The Maine Association of Student Councils, under the sponsorship of the Maine Principals' Association,

1. promotes the concept of the Student Council,
2. assists individual schools in matters directly related to student council organization,
3. acts as a central agency for the collection and distribution of materials relating to student council work,
4. provides students with an opportunity to develop leadership abilities, and
5. encourages student cooperation with school administration as a direct means of training for leadership in a democratic society.

The Maine Association of Student Councils sponsors conferences and other activities for Student Council members and leaders to participate in and learn from throughout the State.
